The British are coming!!!

"A new friend from across the pond...

A hot little Jaguar XK120 coupe has drifted to our shores for a repaint. This is a really cool example of a classic body style -unique, shapely front; a well-rounded butt and one of the sweetest sounding inline 6 cylinders ever made. The body is steel while the bonnet, deck lid and doors are hand-formed aluminum over WOOD frames. Very old-world craftsmanship on this one. Rumor has it that George Barris (yes, THAT George Barris) customized it back in the late 50's. It has has the rear fenders filled and smoothed with lead, the gas filler door taken off the rear deck and smoothed and a rear valance panel fabricated to enhance the rear shape and encapsulate the exhaust exits. It's not time to start on this one yet, but stay tuned as we will in the near future. in the mean time, keep your eyes open for our other international friends (Ferrari and Porsche) to get their makeover(s). Until next time, Randy

  • Wannes: Just watched the epodsie of American Pickers where Mike & Frank had the Once in a lifetime opportunity to meet the Legendary King of Kustom Kars , George Barris. I remember as a kid going to the Detroit Auto Show and seeing the Batmobile. I have always admired the work that George has accomplished over the years. I just want to let George know how I wish I could have that same opportunity just like Mike & Frank.I think somewhere, I still have the Monkeemobile model cars (yes 2 of them!) that I received on my 9th or 10th birthday. I'll be 57 years old this year. My friends knew that I loved cars and I actually got two of them for my birthday. I also have the original soundtrack for Batman when it was on television. I have seen every car that came out of the Barris Garage and am just amazed at the talent these guys have.I envy the talent that George has because I just don't have that fabrication ability that he has as well as so many talented people. I'd like to see George and Chip Foose collaborate together and build a custom creation between them. That would be so awesome! Thanks for the memories,Mike
